Oscars in Los Angeles
Hollywood High Holiday
Living in the City of Angels we have minor brushes with celebrity on a daily basis. Clooney Starbucks sightings. LiLo late night at Twain’s. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in your yoga class. But on this coming weekend of a thousand stars (aka the Oscars) you may be wondering how to get in on the action. Luckily you live Hollywood adjacent and should be able to take advantage of some of the many Oscar related festivites or learn how to get the edge on your office Oscar Pool.
In honor of the Oscars, we’ll share a handful of Oscar worthy outings that will help get you in the red carpet spirit.
What is she wearing?
Have you ever wondered how that crazy woman wearing the credit card dress or that woman with the Ronald MacDonald Red Hair even got into the Kodak Building, let alone won a gold statuette? Well here you can see the handiwork of the top Costume Designers and their Oscar worthy creations. Every year around the Oscars (19 and counting this year), the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) curates the annual exhibit of Oscar Designs. The exhibit includes actual costumes from over 20 movies from 2010. The exhibit runs through April (give or take a few days when they have spring recess) and is FREE to the public.
Check FIDM’s website for operating hours & directions.
